Boy, do we love a creative couple with STYLE! We had no idea when we showed up at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn to meet Gina + Moses for an engagement shoot that they would be 50’s fabulous! We hope you enjoy these images as much as we enjoyed taking them 🙂

Interview with our adorable couple, Windi + Joe:
HOW DID YOU MEET?
Joe: We met as neighbors in a duplex, Windi lived upstairs for about six months before I moved in down stairs. We met as Windi was going to a trapeze class and I was moving in. Since then we would talk and hangout a ton!
Windi: My roommate and I kept trying to scope out the new neighbor…a few days later we finally met ☺
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND/WIFE?
Joe: The conversations!! We would talk for hours about random things! Best ever!!
Windi: Joe’s selfless nature and big heart. He is so thoughtful and considerate. It floored me from the beginning (and still does every day). AND his pretty blue eyes are oh so nice to look into while we’re having the aforementioned (and accurately described) AWESOME convos ☺ I mean, once I went to put laundry in and we ran into each other and ended up talking through the whole wash and dry cycle! It was then that I knew something was up 😉
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? (http://joeandwindi.wedsimple.com/defaultWebsiteFrame.asp?frame=yes&pageID=617767)
Windi: He totally went above and beyond with a surprise ‘destination weekend’ filled with all of my favorite things! AND I got a ring (and him forever) to top it off?! Dang, who’s a lucky girl? (ME!) ☺
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING?
Joe: My heartmate is amazing and has the bestest ideas!
Windi: Our living room. Haha Just kidding. We wanted to keep the dÊcor true to our style and to the feel of the Keys. We love things that are beachy and natural looking so we went with a beach glass theme and Joe likes to surf so we worked in a couple surf boards too ☺
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE:
Joe: Looked online at a few places and decided to take a trip down to the Keys for a location scouting trip. We ended up looking at Coconut Palm on a whim and booked it the same day!
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE?
Joe: planning from a distance. It was hard to remember all of the details of the area for decorations and it was a challenge to get our decorations to Florida (I took an extra trip!
Windi: Yep. Thanks to the groom and Southwest Airlines’ baggage handlers, our trunks of decorations made it to Florida in one piece! Phew!
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING?
Joe: home made signs…(NOT the raffia!!) 😛
Windi: Agree – homemade signs…not only because they turned out cute but also because it was a project we did together one weekend (one WHOLE weekend….it took way longer than we thought!)
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS?
Joe: a ton! Programs, table place cards (messages in a bottle), wooden signs, surfboard signs
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY?
Joe: seeing Windi walk down the aisle ☺ ☺ ☺
Windi: Holding Joe’s hands and looking at those (aforementioned) blue eyes during the ceremony ☺
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE:
Joe: yummy!
Windi: A tall circle of Key Lime Deliciousness. It was so good. I would like some more of it now ☺
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER?
Joe: awesome!!
Windi: Uhmmm, it was like hanging out with my brother and sister from another Mister. Sara and Jason and SO easy to get along with. They are funny and they make you feel immediately comfortable.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE?
Joe: happily ever after!! We need to plan a real honeymoon ☺
Windi: After the wedding, we road tripped back to California (without the radio on!) if that doesn’t signal the beginning of Hap-Hap-Happily Ever After together, I don’t know what does! Next up, is just enjoy our time together without having to plan something….except a ‘real’ honeymoon (I think we can plan that) ☺

Interview with the spectacular couple, Jessica + Michael:
HOW DID YOU MEET? On the first day back to to work after a semester abroad, Michael noticed Jess from across the room and made a comment to a friend. Sadly, she was in another relationship at the time. We became good friends while working together and it wasn’t until a year later that we actually went on our first date.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND/WIFE?
Jess is someone that people just want to be around. She loves life and loves to have fun. She is caring and considerate of others and wicked talented at any number of things. But mostly, being with her makes me so, so happy and there’s nothing that can beat that.
Michael captivated my heart with his genuine personality and witty sense of humor. He is intelligent, compassionate, adventurous and just as sentimental as I am. He inspires me, supports me and is a true family man. He makes me feel safe, happy and most important, loved. I can see how much he loves me in his eyes and feel it in his bear hugs.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? The second best part about our proposal was the fact that Michael was able to convince Jess that he wasn’t going to propose, even though they both knew it was too perfect of a moment not to. The best part about our proposal is that we have photos to prove it [https://conceptphotographyblog.com/?p=9215]. Also, she was really happy and cried a lot. Somehow, Michael was able to play it cool (mostly).
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? In many ways, working in the wedding industry is amazing because it exposes you to so many beautiful wedding ideas. In other ways, it makes planning your own wedding a really daunting task. We had fourteen months to define our vision for our day and Jess did not waste a second. The amount of time and effort she put into our day is just incredible and the results were amazing. In another life, Jess must have been a wedding planner.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE: For having as many barns as we do in Minnesota, we were amazed at how difficult it was to find one for a wedding venue. That’s why we were so thrilled when we discovered that Amy was turning her barn in to a wedding venue. Jess was the first in line to introduce herself to Amy and express interest in her property. Neat fact: Jess suggested the name Rosenwood based upon the heritage of the property and Amy fell in love with it. Amy was so great to work with and really let us bring our ideas to life. We are proud to have been the first couple to book at Rosenwood Farm, hopefully with many beautiful weddings to follow.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? It is amazing to both of us just how many logistics are required to make a day go smoothly. We are both planners and we were still blown away by how many small details continued to come up right until the final hours. We got really good at deciding and just moving on.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING? Some of the most amazing elements of our day were over 100 years old. Any time you can put a big red barn in the middle of a wedding, you know it’ll be a good day. The character of that place made every other detail come alive and pulled all of the different
elements together. Our dessert table had a lot of character that made it about us as much as about desserts, which was also really sweet.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? Most of the details were DIY. From the pendants hanging in the tent, invitations, wooden signs, and desserts, to the wooden flower boxes and lawn games made by Michael and his father and much more. Fourteen months sounds like a lot of time to do-it-yourself and we definitely leveraged the willing support of family and friends. Even still, it was a lot of work. In the end, the results were definitely worth all of the effort. It really made the day feel like our day.
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? We’re both emotional, sentimental people and we were so proud of ourselves because we held it together really well during our first look. We were ready to do this wedding thing. And then Jess walked down the aisle with her mother and Michael just lost it, which made Jess just lose it. Beautiful, teary moment for sure.
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE: We had a beautiful two-level cake from Buttercream. The bottom level was Amaretto and the top was Chocolate. As you might have guessed, the frosting was buttercream in a stucco texture. Jess also spent the better part of the wedding week with her Matron of Honor and one of her Bridesmaids baking all of the other desserts. We tasted everything, of course. All of it was delicious.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? We just love Sara and Jason. We had an amazing experience with them last year when they shot our proposal and engagement session and we have spent the last fourteen months looking forward to working with them again. Spending our wedding day with them as our photographers was so much fun. They helped everything to run smoothly and all of our guests just loved them. They are professionals at what they do and deserve every bit of our appreciation.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? It’s time to slow down for a bit. The honeymoon was a good start, but we’re ready to leave wedding planning in the past and just enjoy life’s simple, less elaborate moments as husband and wife. We’re also getting used to being a “husband” and a “wife.”
