Jackie + Robby / Nautical Glam Merritt Island Wedding

Interview with the stunning bride, Jackie:
HOW DID YOU MEET? Funny story actually. My dad and Robby went to competing Maritime colleges and when Robby graduated and moved back home, this commonality always struck up conversations at church. One Sunday, my dad decided to play matchmaker because he thought Robby and I would get along great. I received a text from Robby later that afternoon and we set up our first date!
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND? His confidence, values and gusto for life! It didn’t hurt that he had sexy legs.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? On top of the Empire State Building.
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? Being a Florida girl, I have always loved the sea and Robby is a sailor so we knew we wanted something nautical. Then we added a touch of sparkle to dress it up creating our Nautical Glam theme.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE: Robby and I are from the same hometown and both our families have been there a long time so we knew that is where we wanted our wedding. Each venue held a special place in our hearts. Our ceremony was held in the church I grew up in and where my parents my got married. Our reception was held at the church Robby grew up in and where his parents got married!
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? Probably that I was living in South Florida planning a wedding three hours away.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING? Our giant Captain’s Table (aka Head Table) made for 40. We had gold sequined floor length linens with a variety of floating candles the whole way down. It made the whole room sparkle!
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? Oh yea, our families were a really big help with that. Robby braided lots of rope to line the church pews, made monkey fists to hang on the pews and for the bridesmaid bouquets, our seating chart, programs, hanging photo wall with all of our families wedding photos, handwritten thank you notes for each guest as an escort card, table numbers and the list goes on and on.
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? During our first dance, just looking around the beautiful room our amazing vendors created for us and seeing all of our favorite people in the world under one roof. That was an amazing feeling.
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE: It was beautiful! An all white three tiered cake with piped stripes and our wedding monogram on the middle tier. There was also fondant rope at the bottom of each tier. Our cake topper was the same that my grandmother and mother had in their weddings. We just modified it with some rope.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? Ah-mazing!! I’ve loved Sara and Jason’s work ever since I met them working a wedding about seven years ago and knew I had to have them shoot my wedding whenever that came about. They were actually the first vendor I booked! They were always available to answer questions and seriously made the wedding day so easy. Both were very timely and helped us get our family photos done in record time. We got every shot we wanted and I know every photo is going to be a work of art. Sara and Jason are the perfect photographers with unlimited creativity!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? We are actually moving to Dallas from South Florida for my job this week!
