Kristin + Chad / Nautical New Smyrna Marina Wedding

Interview with the gorgeous Kristin + Chad:
HOW DID YOU MEET? We originally met in October of 2006 at an insurance golf event. Chad is a very good golfer and hit a pretty impressive shot on hole #3 that caught my attention. Afterwards we talked and I told him I was from New Smyrna Beach. He was very surprised as he had been vacationing in New Smyrna his whole life and his parents own a condo on the beach. While we didn’t start dating for several months to say the hook was set at that conversation would be an understatement!
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND/WIFE?
Chad-She is unlike any girl I have ever met. Very laid back, down to earth, adventurous, and not to mention pretty good looking. She has pushed me to try new things and to see the world. Each journey we take just gets better.
Kristin-Chad is always up for anything! Even though he grew up golfing he has thoroughly embraced the coastal lifestyle and now loves boating, diving, fishing, loberstering, and most of all traveling. I think we really bring out the best in each other.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? June 2013, we were on a sailing trip in one of our favorite places, Anguilla, early one morning we took our dingy for a ride over to a beach to check out an old shipwreck. We were sitting on the beach and I turned around to find Chad down on one knee! It was the best surprise and we got to celebrate with great friends for the rest of the trip.
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? Our love of the water, boating, and New Smyrna Beach.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE: I had always wanted to have my wedding in New Smyrna but there are limited venues on the water that could hold the number of people we needed. Then last year New Smyrna Marina & Outriggers was built. It was the absolute perfect place for us as it is a little piece of Key West right in NSB!
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? Like most weddings it was the guest list. Since I grew up in New Smyrna Beach & my Dad is very involved with the community we had a lot of friends and family that we wanted to include. We spent long nights going over and over the list. But in the end it all worked out and we were surrounded by an amazing group of people!
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING? The Right Hook, A beautiful 58’ sport fisher we got married on. That was a group effort with the groomsmen fishing on the Right Hook earlier in the week and our Groomsman/Officiant, Kenny, bringing the boat logistics together.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? We had a lot of DIY personal details that added to the planning and to our day. Our seating chart was based on pictures from places we have visited. Our ropes, lanterns, & pictures added to the tables and decor. We made directional signs for the event made from paddles and painted “Park & Bride”. Chad’s Mom, Robin, made similar table displays from wine corks and pictures for the rehearsal dinner. My Dad made Chad’s ring from a half dollar coin. After the invitations were prepared, we boxed them, and sent to the Postmaster in Pearsall, Texas. He hand stamped each one with the “Pearsall, TX” postmark.
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? Walking in after being announced as Mr. & Mrs. Chad & Kristin Park. It was so wonderful to see all the smiles and welcoming expressions on friends and family. We had the most beautiful sunset over the water which was the perfect backdrop.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? Jason & Sara are the absolute best! We (Chad!) were pretty nervous when we first met them for our engagement photos as we had never done anything like this before. They are both so laid back & fun that it really took the pressure off the situation and we had a great time. Not to mention the pictures turned out amazing.
Our experience with them at the wedding was much the same. They put everyone at ease and just made it simple. Jason & Sara are very professional and truly a gifted team. We could not have asked for a better experience with our photographers!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? We just got back from a dream honeymoon in Moorea & Bora Bora! On to planning the next trip and seeing what married life has in store for us.
