Interview with our BEAUTIFUL bride, Brittany:
HOW DID YOU MEET? Tommy and I met in 2005 through a mutual friend briefly one day at the mall and Tommy invited us to a small get together over the weekend. Tommy & I “hit it off”, spent the whole night talking, laughing & getting to know one another. The rest is just history… we’ve been inseparable ever since!
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND? Everything! He is so sweet & caring; he would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Not to mention he’s handsome and charming… I couldn’t imagine life without him!!
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? Tommy decided to take me horseback riding on the beach for my birthday, something I had wanted to do since we’ve been together. We drove about 2 hours to Port St. Lucie beach, one of the only few places that still allows horses on the beach in FL. Tommy had planned to propose there (plan A), however the group that went before us had lost a few valuables that were swept away quickly by the waves of the ocean. Tommy decided not to take the chance of dropping the ring in the water, so he decided to wait. After horseback riding, we decided to drive up the coast a bit to Cocoa Beach (the majority of Tommy’s family lives there). Tommy wanted to go to the beach before visiting the family, where he was then going to propose on the beach (plan B), however it started pouring down rain … needless to say, that plan didn’t work out either. Driving around in the pouring rain, we had decided to drop by and visit the family. Tommy kept making wrong turn after wrong turn on route to his aunt’s house and I figured we were lost in the rain. I kept asking Tommy to call his aunt for directions or get out the GPS but Tommy insisted he knew where we were (plan c). We ended up on a road that runs right next to a huge river. The road was coming to a dead end and I was still insisting on using the GPS, as the rain was falling heavier. Tommy stopped the car at the dead end and said “Ok, I admit that I may not know where we’re at, but there is one thing I am sure of…” at that point I was looking for the GPS and Tommy pulled out a ring box and said “I am sure of us, will you marry me?”
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? I picked my two favorite colors – purple & lime green! I looked through hundreds of magazines, pictures & tips online and took bits & pieces of ideas from other weddings I’ve been to and brought everything I liked into my own wedding ☺
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE:
Finding a venue was the hardest part for us. We searched for months for the perfect place. We wanted an outside wedding but didn’t want to get married on the beach. When we found the Palmetto Club we both instantly fell in love with it! The outside garden area was perfect and the ballroom was gorgeous!
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? Finding the venue!
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING: Our wedding cake & my bouquet ☺
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? My mom made all of the centerpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres. She also made my veil & sewed on all of the little crystals. She is very talented!
DESCRIBE YOUR FLOWERS: The girls bouquets were purple, green & white hydrangeas. Mine was the same adding big white lilies. Our centerpieces varied… some had big purple and green hydrangeas and some had tall purple and green phalaenopsis orchids.
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY?
Seeing my husband waiting for me at the alter! Oh… and the love bugs! They were everywhere! All over my white wedding dress & the two little flower girls – at least they were called “love” bugs ☺
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE: Our cake was pretty simple. We wanted a mostly white cake with a touch of color. We had a four-tier buttercream square cake with a black & purple design on opposite corners with an edible purple lily. Topped off with an “R” monogram cake topper with purple crystals on it ☺
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? Our photographers were great! We really enjoyed working with them. They are both very fun and energetic! Sara will do anything to make the little ones smile! They are really a great team and I would hire them all over again in a heartbeat!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? We are currently looking to buy a house, start a family in the next few years! We can’t wait to see what the future holds! ☺
