Gina + David’s Wedding at the Crowne Plaza Melbourne Oceanfront, FL

Interview with our BEAUTIFUL bride, Gina:
HOW DID YOU MEET?
-We met back in 2004 at a battle of the bands in Melbourne. David was the bassist for a local band.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND?
-His humor and love for sports
HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
-We had just finished visiting the museum of one of our favorite artists, Salvador Dali, in St. Pete. We decided to take a walk in this beautiful waterfront park outside of the museum. I was admiring all of the colorful sailboats and all of a sudden, he was down on one knee proposing.
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING?
-The beach and our hometown were the inspirations for our wedding. We wanted our wedding to be a laid back party.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE:
-We were looking for a venue that could offer two things; a ceremony by the water and a reception site large enough for a dance floor and a photo booth.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE?
-The biggest challenge was balancing work and wedding planning. At times, it was difficult to find the time to drive to Melbourne to meet with our vendors.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING:
-I loved so many elements of our wedding! Everyone raved about our favors, custom Jones Soda bottles, and our sand dollar place settings. I also loved the presentation of our wedding cake. Susan and Linda did a great job decorating the cake table with flowers, gems and lights.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS?
-Our place settings sand dollars were really our only DIY items.
DESCRIBE YOUR FLOWERS:
-Our center pieces were gorgeous! They were large clear vases filled with water, there were purple and white orchards attached to a lime green wire floating in the water. At the top of the vase was a large lime green spider fuji.
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY?
-The most memorable moment was when David and I saw each other for the first time that day. When I started walking down the aisle with my father in my wedding dress, David said “holy cow” so loud that the entire bridal party was laughing as I was coming down the aisle. It was priceless.
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE:
-After meeting with about 6 different wedding cake vendors, we decided to get our cake from Publix. I had found a photo of an elegant cake in a wedding magazine and Publix did an outstanding job replicating it. Our cake was four layers which included two layers of red velvet with cream cheese filling, a layer of chocolate with raspberry filling, and a layer of vanilla with fresh strawberries.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER?
-We loved working with Sara and Jason! They were both full of so much energy and made taking formal pictures fun. It was nice working with experienced photographers that didn’t waste any time.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE?
-David and I just moved into our new apartment together. We are enjoying spending time together searching for items to decorate and furnish our new home.
