Christina + Chris / Savannah, GA Wedding

Interview with our gorgeous bride, Christina:
HOW DID YOU MEET? During my senior year of high school, I worked at a retirement home as a server. A few months after I started working there, Chris was hired to work in the maintenance department. We became close friends and started dating about a year later.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND? Chris is such a compassionate and loving person. His giving nature and sense of humor are what I most love about him.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? We took a trip to Hawaii to visit Chris’s brother and family. It was my first time in Hawaii, and Chris wanted to show me this beautiful spot to take pictures of the amazing scenery. The spot was a little climb down the rocks that lined the water to reach the sand. We set up the tripod and took several pictures. Then without me knowing, Chris set the camera to record. As I was cheesing for the camera, Chris knelt down in front of me and asked me to marry him. 🙂
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? Savannah, Georgia is an absolutely beautiful city to have a wedding. We love all the history, architecture, and romantic ambiance of the city.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE: There are many venues in Savannah to choose from. We looked at a few and fell in love with the Mansion on Forsyth Park. The gold accents and crystal chandeliers in the ballroom are so charming. The entire hotel is absolutely beautiful and was even able to accommodate my little doggie too!
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? Planning out of state was a little challenging, but turned out to be much easier than I thought. All my vendors were very easy to work with and other then wrapping up all the loose ends toward the end, my experience with wedding planning was great.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING? I love the historic elegance that was a huge part of our wedding. The outside ceremony brought a lot of natural beauty, along with our gorgeous flowers. I also love my wedding dress!!
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? I purchased many things from Etsy.com. There are a lot of very talented, individually-owned businesses that make DIY projects much easier (not to mention look very professional) and cost almost the same as actually doing it yourself. The place cards, which I did make myself, were very time consuming. I would recommend to future brides to start making them as soon as you get your guest list finalized, so it doesn’t become a headache closer to your wedding day! 🙂
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? One of the moments we talk and laugh about often was when I was walking down the aisle (which was a little longer in distance then a traditional aisle). I was so nervous and excited. I kept a big smile on my face, but as I got closer to Chris and saw him start to tear up, we both shared a few happy and excited tears before the start of the ceremony.
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE: Our cake was simple and elegant. We had three tiers covered with cream-colored fondant lightly dusted with “luster dust” to give it a little shimmer. There were pale yellow bands with a two-string rhinestone accent toward the bottom of each tier. Large sugar magnolias were placed on each tier for the main accent of the cake.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? They are fantastic! I had searched all over the internet to find a particular style of photography, and when I came upon their website, I knew they were the ones! They are a lot of fun and very professional. Sara and Jason make a great team.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? We will be enjoying a two-week European honeymoon in a few weeks. We decided on a cruise that will take us from Italy to Greece and Turkey. We will then stay in Paris for a few days before returning home.
