Interview with our BEAUTIFUL bride, Lindsay:
HOW DID YOU MEET?
Well there are really three times, but we each only remember one of the first two times so I’ll share about the third. In November 2007 we both joined our friend Jordan to celebrate his birthday at PF Changs. Although I’m usually on time, this one evening I couldn’t pull myself together quickly enough and was a little late. When I got there the only empty seat was next to Joseph. Somehow he was able to look past the fact that I was eating with a fork, not chopsticks, and was able to talk to me. We quickly figured out that our families lived in the same neighborhood and many other little connections we had to each other. Long story short, a few months later we started dating and I learned how to use chopsticks.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND?
I love how calm Joseph is, which really balances out my high energy silly way of living. Family is extremely important to him, which is great considering we live about five minutes from both of our parents. Also, he immediately became best buds with my dog Howard. Seeing how sweet he was to Howie just showed what a caring person Joseph really is. Then after only five months of dating I broke my jaw and the way Joseph treated me while my jaw was wired sealed the deal that he was a “100% 1st Class A+ Guy” (as my dad would say.)
HOW DID HE PROPOSE
Joseph and I had planned to go on a cruise to the Bahamas for a long weekend. The first night of the cruise we were having a drink when a photographer asked us if we’d like our picture taken. While we were taking a couple photos Joe got down on one knee and proposed. He had planned out for the photographer to be there to capture this special moment. It was absolutely perfect.
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING
I didn’t really have one thing that inspired my vision. I just knew I wanted it to be an evening that everyone thoroughly enjoyed and filled with lots of dancing. I think it was good I didn’t have a true vision because the wedding evolved with each step we went through and I never felt tied down to one thing. It was, in my opinion, absolutely perfect and the best night of my life.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE:
Immediately I knew I wanted it at the Grand Bohemian. Joseph had taken me there for Valentine’s Day a few years ago and I simply fell in love with it. We looked at a few other places and each time I would come up with a laundry list of why it wasn’t as great as the Grand Bo. We were worried that the number of people we were inviting would fit into the ball room, but I kept telling everyone “It will be ok, don’t worry about it!” In the end, I was right (of course!) that we would all fit and it was the best night of my life.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE?
By far the biggest challenge was the guest list and getting it down to a number that could fit into the ballroom. We ended up with 183 people that RSVPed yes, one of the largest weddings the Grand Bo has ever had. It all worked out just fine and if it hadn’t we just would have had to have the ever joked about “over-flow room.”
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING?
By far the flowers. My dad is in the floral transportation/distribution business so we have always had the most beautiful flowers in our home which made this aspect really important to me. Josh at InBloom worked with us, four people at a table knowing exactly what we wanted without being able to describe it, and created the most spectacular floral designs. If I could go back to my wedding I would want to look at each and every floral piece.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS?
DIY and Lindsay are not two words that belong together. My mom and I get nervous just driving into the parking lot of a JoAnne’s or Michael’s. Anything I would have attempted to do would have been disastrous. Ok enough about this, I’m getting nervous answering this question!
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY?
I have so many of them it’s hard to choose! The one I know I will never ever forget though is when Joseph and I had our first look. We had debated if we had wanted to do this prior to the wedding and I’m so happy we did. It was special to have a few moments with just us before all the true hoopla began. We savored every moment of it.
My favorite moments- Walking down the aisle with my parents. Joe and Adam (my brother) bringing me pizza at 2:30am in bed the morning of our wedding. Howie turning up at exactly the right time to be in some pictures. Mouthing to Joe in the middle of the ceremony that my feet hurt and him giving me a big smile.
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE:
Our cake was truly a work of love. Robin Katzman, a close family friend of Joseph, is a truly talented cake baker and decorator. Everything she makes not only looks gorgeous, but tastes out of this world. I immediately knew I wanted her to make our wedding cake and was so ecstatic when she agreed to. Throughout our planning she and I both had so much fun picking up the various elements of the cake. Joseph may have had the most fun with all the mini cakes she would bake for us to pick out flavors. And even though Robin’s a dentist there was absolutely no skimping on the sugar!
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER?
From the moment we met Sara and Jason I knew there was no other option but them. Just ask my dad, he got a call from me I think before I had my seat belt on in the car and he told me to stop talking so fast. They get all the shots you want without be obtrusive. Each time we were with them Joseph and I had so much fun.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE?
Next up for us is the chance to continue on the fun journey of life while experiencing many firsts as husband and wife. We plan on staying in the Lake Mary area as both of our families live close by. Since coming back from Hawaii we have been busy with work, Joseph in real estate and myself in AV systems integration. We are both thoroughly enjoying our first taste of married life.
CAN YOU PLEASE LIST YOUR VENDORS
Grand Bohemian Hotel: OUT OF THIS WORLD! Loved everything about them and Sandy is one of the most sincere people you will ever meet.
Michele Butler Events: Without Kara and Karee my mom would have had no dress to wear to the wedding! They pulled everything together seamlessly.
Write in Style: Gayle and Barry made the paper product selections so much fun. We would find ourselves in there talking as though we were all old friends.
White Rose Entertainment: Jeff kept the party going the entire time and knew exactly what music to play to keep everyone on the dance floor.
Something Blue Bridal: Ever walk into a store and feel like you are right at home? That was exactly how they made me feel.
Michael Anthony Cakes: They made the coolest grooms cake ever! He managed to pull together the Steelers, the Magic, Makers Mark, snowboarding, Howie, Audis, and a photo from our engagement all into one spectacular cake.
Kristin Harrington from Urban Blonde Salon: I wouldn’t trust anyone other than Kristin to do my hair my big day! From homecomings, to proms, to my friends’ weddings she always make my hair look its best, but most importantly is someone who probably knows more about me than I do.
In Bloom: Josh and team made the floral designs at our wedding out of this world. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone. Not only are their wedding arrangements fantastic, but they create great one of a kind arrangements for birthdays, anniversaries, or just because.
