Melani + Bill / Boynton Beach Wedding

Interview with our awesome couple, Melani + Bill:
HOW DID YOU MEET? We met on match.com. I could tell you a whole story on this part but I’ll wait for them to contact us for the next commercial. 😉
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND/WIFE? We both made each other laugh very easily and had a great time with each other just being ourselves. As he said when I asked him “you were sooooo cool”. It was perfect from the start.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? Bill proposed in Rockefeller Center NYC. He had his friends meet us in town and take photos and video, I had no idea what was going on. He asked that we take a picture down by the statue (the man hates his photo taken). Even more confusing, then he was asking me to take my jacket off, and leave my bag with his friends….. I was so annoyed. He never tells me what to wear. I refused to take off my jacket or leave my bag with them. Once we were down by the statue, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He tried to make it a perfect photo and instead I’m wearing a huge jacket and an ugly travel bag during my engagement moment.
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? Simple and elegant. Isn’t that what everybody says? We both love purple so that was a no brainer and it had to be simple because it was very DIY and we had a short period of time for setup and breakdown.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE: We had done previous weddings in the family and events at our venue, it was close by and extremely affordable. We looked into other venues but nothing could come close to the ease and cost of Intracoastal Park Boynton Beach.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? Sticking to the budget is the biggest challenge I think. The budget was $12,000 and we came in just a little more than that. It took a lot of internet searching for the same items over and over until I found what I wanted for the price I could pay.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING? The flowers were gorgeous!!! I loved every single thing from the bouquets to the buffet center pieces…wish I could have kept them alive forever! Hard to believe but Whole Foods in Boca Raton did them. My husband works for Whole Foods and has always brought me gorgeous flowers since we started dating.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? All of the details we did ourselves, centerpieces and chalk boards. My dad built the ceremony arch. The only thing we didn’t do was bake the food and play the music.
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY? For both of us it was seeing each other for the first time. We were both crying and I’m sure the pictures are terrible but who cares, we meant it. First wedding for both of us at 40 years old is very special.
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE: YUMMY! Bottom layer was vanilla with raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting, middle layer was chocolate with chocolate and the top layer was red velvet with cream cheese frosting . Everybody raved about the cake! I had bought a cake topper and forgot to put it on there…. I never noticed until I saw some pictures and realized .. yep no topper.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? What can I say? You guys are the best! I’ve never wanted to get married until I saw your website so many years ago, it made me want a wedding! You were never in the way but always there … just perfect!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? Relaxing and traveling. We’ve spent so much time planning the wedding that we’re both glad it’s over and we can just be together and talk about something else!
