Tara + Anthony / Captiva Island Destination Wedding

Interview with our GORGEOUS bride, Tara:
HOW DID YOU MEET? We met at work 🙂 We work in advertising. I’m a producer. He’s an art director and it was a perfect match.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU THE MOST TO YOUR HUSBAND? His quirkiness and compassion.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE? We were on a lake looking a Christmas lights and he read me a poem he wrote.
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR VISION FOR YOUR WEDDING? Lots of different websites and blogs including Concept’s blog, Etsy, Style me Pretty, Brides, etc. I wanted the wedding to feel romantic, elegant and antique with a beach flare.
TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR VENUE: We researched online high and low to find the perfect place on a beach. Originally we wanted to go to Puerto Rico or Mexico, but felt it was too much to ask with our families with kids and my 96 year old grandmother to travel that far. So we decided to find a place that everyone could go. We also wanted the location to have meaning, so we decided on Captiva Island. We both went there on vacation with our families as children. We also lost our fathers, so this island brought meaning and memories to make new memories. We knew about South Seas Resort from our visits and friends, but had never been there before.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST PLANNING CHALLENGE? Planning a destination wedding.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT OF YOUR WEDDING? The invitations that Anthony designed and our tables.
DID YOU HAVE ANY DIY DETAILS? If you decide to do your own invitations, save the scraps and material so you can reuse them for place cards, programs, table numbers, etc. That way everything ties in while maintaining a budget. Or just marry an art director 🙂
WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR WEDDING DAY?
That’s really hard to say because there are so many memorable moments. I loved our ceremony on the beach with our dear friend Michael as our Officiant, the crazy weather with thunder at the right moments and our “I do” kiss followed by rain.
DESCRIBE YOUR CAKE: Simple, elegant and yummy.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER? They were great. It rained as we said “I do” but they both rolled with it. They were very creative with their shots and lighting and as creatives we appreciate that.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND AS A COUPLE? Saving up for a house.
